I thought that was weird too. Ever more curious, what is the city doing building surface parking lots on boulevards?? 18th and The Paseo is too prominent of a corner for surface parking.

Eric, we have to have visiable parking for all the Johnson county people!

I think people in the entire metro consider ALL construction as progress. Tearing down historic buildings (Fire Alarm and Royal Liquor downtown) and slapping in surface parking is considered "development".

Granted, we got there a little late so we may have missed them. But we didn't see a single city council member at the opening of the Juke Joint. This ribbon cutting is just to give the illusion that the 3rd District is getting some attention from City Hall.
