THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU my friend. I am one of those kooks who instead of pointing fingers only at the public for dogs being killed in shelters at such a high rate would like to see the shelters improve their procedures and policies. I would like to see them working with the public in a less judgmental manner meaning that when someone comes to surrender a dog there are programs in place that can help people who really feel they have no choice but to surrender their dog to the shelter can keep their dog.

I think it's a seriously sad state of affairs in the animal welfare community that so many choose to hate on and judge anyone who would surrender a dog to a shelter rather than to explore the many ways we can help people keep their dogs and keep more dogs out of the shelters.

Changing the mindset is absolutely the key and I hope when enough of us stand up and speak out about this people will begin to listen.
