HB 14, a bill that would remove the breed-specific language from the Ohio state law and replace it with some very solid behavior-based policies, is scheduled to be heard again tomorrow, Wednesday, 6/15, at 9 am in the Ohio State House room 114.
If voted on and passed, HB 14 would then move on to the Senate and provide an opportunity to remove breed-specific language from the only state in the US that has breed-specific language in its codes.
If you live in or around the Columbus area, please show up in suport of HB 14.
h/t to Stop BSL on the news -- and who also has posted the full, revised text of HB 14.
Funny how the "pit bull" language was added to Ohio's Dangerous Dog Statute as an amendment and the whole process probably took five minutes, but in typical "dog law" style it's taking 24 years to undo the damage. Putting that toothpaste back in the tube is always more difficult.
MANY stars in Jean Keating's crown. She has been busting her tail in Ohio to try and get city laws and the state law changed. She is Abraham's one righteous person in Sodom and Gomorrah (or in this case, Ohio!).
