I'd like to commend Lori for actually researching an issue! Oh, how few do...

I usually look at humane/rescue groups and try to determine if we're better off with them or without them. We might be better off with H$U$ on the farming side (I'm not versed enough) but for companion animals - IMO, hell no.

They promoted dog fighting and pushed BSL since the early 80s and are largly responsible for the mess we have today. The only reason they changed their stance is because of the backlash. Partnered with the most notorious animal torturer on the planet. Push pet limits, MSN (even though they admit there is no pet overpopulation if you look in the right places), support killing feral cats. Oh, and one of their representatives tried to push for an exception for BSL MSN when a MO Sentator proposed a statewide ban on BSL - can you all guess who that was??

Think of how many lives could have been saved if the money from their unethical and illegal fund raising tactics would have gone to actual rescues and low cost s/n.

I'll admit it...I'm a H$U$ hater.

Dear HSUS: we hereby apply to receive that cool 1% of your annual budget that goes to local shelters.

We could sure use that million bucks!

kthxbye
