Jerry Lee Southern, the man who has been charged with 70 counts of animal cruelty in connection with a group of dogs that he hoarded in Northern Oklahoma a year ago, went to court last week. Under the law, if convicted, Southern could get up to 5 years in prison for each incident of animal cruelty.
You can read more about the case here and here.
Boomer is one of the dogs from the bust. My wife and I fostered Boomer for about 6 months - -and a combination of factors -- many including his growth - has led Boomer to go to a new foster home for the time being. We hope to get the little guy back sometime after the first of the year. However, as you can see from the pics of his new foster home, he is doing great, making new friends, living a life of luxury and making a good recovery as he learns how to be a dog.
You can see older pics of Boomer from when he was with us, you can check them out here, here and here.
I've seen first hand the emotional damage Southern's abuse put on at least one dog. I hope the judge judges harshly in favor of the dogs in this case.
that's wonderful Brent that you're helping these dogs!!! I know what you mean about the abuse. When you live with these guys you can really see what goes on in their minds and what must have happened. It sometimes makes me really wonder about humans....

Southern's offenses against the dogs were some of the worst we've ever seen. I wish I could post photos of what we found at his property (I'm sure Brandy knows). The world cruel doesn't begin to cover it.
Thanks for posting this news, Brent.
And, boom boom to da Boomer.
