It's now official. I've been invited (and I've accepted) to speak at the No More Homeless Pets Conference out in Las Vegas on October 24-26. It's a pretty conprehensive conference, that deals with a whole host of issues. Here's an agenda for the conference. There are several folks I'm really looking forward to hearing speak -- Bill Bruce is always excellent, I can never hear his presentation enough. Nathan Winograd will be there, I'm looking forward to hearing him again after going to his presentation on his initial book tour a year ago. I'm really excited to hear Peter Marsh -- Peter is one of the people who was responsible for orchestrating a state wide low-cost voluntary spay/neuter program in New Hampshire.
I'm going to be part of the Saturday breed descrimination presentation. I'll be presenting with Ledy Van Kavage and Jill Buckley of the ASPCA, and Russ Meade of Best Friends. My focusing is going to be on sharing some of our successes in repealing Breed Specific Legislation and helping others to do so in their communities.
I'm excited for the opportunity to present and hopefully balance out some of the other 'alternatives' that will be presented. I also expect that I'll learn quite a bit while I'm out there too.
So if you can get to Vegas for that weekend, come on out and say hello. I have a widget for this along my left-hand border (although for some reason it's not functioning quite right, I'm certain it's a user error on my part and am going to work on fixing it).
See you in Vegas.
Congrats! I'll see you there!

that's great, brent. keep us posted on when you're speaking. I'll be in Vegas that weekend for work -- not sure of my exact schedule yet, but if I have some free time, I will definitely attend some of these sessions. I'm hoping to be there by the morning of the 24th and to have some free time that afternoon.

Wow, congrats Brent!! What a compliment you have been paid by a major organization to be included as a speaker in their conference.
I am sure your hometurf will provide much material for your presentation.

NaFoD/KCKKD - make no mistake, the reason I got invited to speak was because of the cumulation of work from a lot of people in KCDA that have turned a lot of heads nationally. Breed ID presentations, 3 cities with overturned BSL, court cases won in KCK, etc have all led to some intrigue from around the country. I happen to be more in the public limelight....but it was the good work of a lot of great people that made it possible.

great job, are the court cases won on your blog here? was the BSL overturned a court case? if not, is there somewhere I can read about it? thanks!

So far we've not won what you'd call a substantial Court Case -- we've gone to court and gotten people's individual dogs freed, but nothing big that would force the overturning of a law. I I have anything at all they'd be under "lawsuits" in the "categories" section on the left...
