I know that I've mentioned this before, and I'll be pimping this a lot for the next 4 months, but I wanted to pass along details on this event as I get them hammered out.
Kansas City Dog Advocates will be hosting our 2nd Annual Canine Legislation Conference right here in Kansas City on September15 & 16. The event will be held at the Westin at Crown Center.
It's a beautiful time of year to be in KC, and we have a great lineup of speakers already. Here are the early-confirmed guests -- with several more that will be announced soon:
Ledy VanKavage of the ASPCA
Deborah Bresch - a lawyer from New York who assembled the ASPCA brief for the Toledo vs Tellings case for the Ohio Supreme Court (hopefully we'll have a positive ruling in time for the conference!)
Bill Bruce - The Head of Animal Control in Calgary -- one of the most successful cities in North America in animal issues, including decreasing bite stats in spite of a rapidly growing population, 95% licensing compliance, and more dog parks per capita than anywhere else in North America.
Donna Herzig - Donna is with the Louisville Canine Club. Louisville passed possibly the most dog unfriendly ordinance in the country earlier this year and Donna will be able to talk more about it.
Roo & Wallace - National Finalist Frisbee Dog and his owner Roo.
There is much more to come, so stay tuned.
The KCDA Conference Web Page will be updated as more info becomes available as well. And if anyone is interested in attending the conference, or sponsoring any of the sessions, please feel free to contact me. It should be a fabulous event again this year and I'm very excited about these guests, as well as some others that we're working on.
