Back on December 8, 55 year old Larry Armstrong was found dead in the small community of Sundance, NM -- part of Navajo Nation Land in that area. At the time, he was found surrounded by a pack of very skinny, obviously hungry dogs, but most reports thought the man may have been hit by a car which caused his death.
Turns out, four months later, the autopsy report says that Larry Armstrong was killed by this pack of dogs. Medical reports show that Armstrong suffered from seizures (he had been taken to the hospital the day before his death due to seizures) and it remains unclear if he suffered a seizure prior to the pack of dogs attacking him, or if he was conscious at the time of the attack.
For anyone who has spent any time on tribal lands they know that the concept of dog ownership is very different in these areas than in most cities in the US. It is not uncommon to see packs of dogs virtually everywhere. And hungry packs of dogs can, under extreme conditions, be very dangerous.
My heart goes out to Armstrong's family and hopefully the final autopsy will provide some closure for them.
